This is an autobiographical piece. Chaim, one of the artists, was drafted into the Israeli army at age 40 at the start of the Gulf War in January of 1991. He was released on the day that the war ended, which happened to fall on the Jewish holiday of Purim (described in the Book of Esther). It was also the day that Scud missiles stopped falling on Israel. This panel shows Chaim and Yonnah on the walls of Ashkelon. The text below reads:
“And the coast shall be for the remnant of the house of Judah; they shall feed thereupon: in the houses of Ashkelon shall they lie down in the evening: for the LORD their God shall visit them, and turn away their captivity.” - Zephaniah 2:7
