“Issachar is a strong boned donkey stretching out between the saddlebags. But he sees that the resting place is good and that the land is pleasant, so he will bend his back to the load, working like a slave.” – Genesis 49:14,15
However the word that is rendered “slave” is interpreted, it denotes a humble destiny. The photograph of the donkey between two saddlebags was taken more than a decade ago in Greece. The glaze and the scribal text of the Hebrew are pitted to accentuate theme of humility. The bowl is 17 inches in diameter and 6 inches high.
